Full-Range Speakers: Everything You Need To Know
Full-range speakers are designed to cover a wide range of sound frequencies and are perfect for home theater systems. You don’t need to invest in subwoofers or tweeter speakers with a good full-range speaker set. You should particularly consider a full-range speaker if you’re looking for speakers for your car, as you won’t be adding any other components.

Components of Full Range Speakers
The Tweeter
Tweeters are the smallest speakers in a full-range speaker system. The smaller size allows the membrane of the tweeter to produce frequencies higher than larger speakers can reach. Humans can only hear frequencies up to 20kHz, but tweeters can reach frequencies up to 100kHz. High frequencies produced by tweeters are cleaner with less distortion than other speakers.
The Woofer
The woofer is the component that covers the widest frequency range in a full-range speaker system. It’s designed to be able to produce a consistent volume across the mid-frequency range with as little noise as possible. Some woofers can reach frequencies as low as 60Hz, eliminating the need for a subwoofer for many users. Woofers in bookshelf speakers often play the part of both the woofer and the subwoofer.

The Subwoofer
The subwoofer produces low frequencies in a full-range speaker that the woofer can’t reach. Most people can’t hear frequencies lower than 20Hz, but we can still feel the vibrations in our bodies. Some subwoofers can even reach down to 15Hz. If the woofer is good enough, a subwoofer won’t meaningfully improve the sound quality. However, it can greatly improve the experience in general.
